Help Gidget Foundation Australia be there for parents every day of the year.

In Australia, 1 in 5 mothers and 1 in 10 fathers will  experience perinatal depression and anxiety (PNDA).

Support newborn parents’ mental health

Since 2001, Gidget Foundation Australia has been dedicated to providing expectant and new parents with timely, appropriate, and specialist care to help them navigate the challenges of new parenthood.

From prenatal wellbeing screening to community group support and face-to-face and telehealth counselling, our goal is to ensure new parents receive the support, connection and education they need to survive and thrive.

Transform a life with regular monthly donations

Your generous monthly donations contribute to:

  Continuous care

On average, individuals with PNDA engage with us for about seven months of treatment, but those with severe symptoms may need more support. Your monthly contributions enable us to provide continuous care, ensuring that no parent is left to face their journey alone.

Change-making initiatives

Early detection and treatment can significantly reduce the impacts of PNDA on parents and families. Your donations empower us to develop innovative programs like Gidget Training Institute, to equip clinicians with the skills to support new parents' mental health.

Ensure every dollar goes further

Your monthly donations are automatically processed, making things convenient for you and reducing our administrative overheads. This means more of your donations go to support new parents' mental health, while giving you full control over your giving commitment.

The silent struggle of perinatal mental ill-health is impacting 100,000 Australian parents every year.

Courtney Stubbs is a name that should be familiar to many households in Australia. Her appearance on the reality TV show Love Island propelled her to fame. With her fun and bubbly personality, Courtney quickly gained a huge following, and when she and fellow reality TV star Jack welcomed their baby, their journey captured the hearts of thousands on social media.

Yet, behind the glamorised pregnancy stories and social media portrayals was Courtney’s silent struggle with mental health. The constant nausea, heartburn, and emotional turmoil left her feeling like she was losing herself. “I began to feel like I was a ‘vessel’ for this baby and nothing more”, said Courtney. “I didn’t have any will to do ANYTHING that once brought me joy.”

The turning point came when the couple sought help from her midwife, marking the beginning of a healing process. Despite the discomfort and difficulty, Courtney credits the support she received with helping her realise that she “wasn’t alone” and that her feelings were normal.

Now, Courtney wants to share this heartfelt advice with other expectant and new parents:

“Through pregnancy, motherhood, and parenting, it’s crucial to surround yourself with your village... someone to hold your hand and guide you along the way.”

That’s why Gidget Foundation Australia started: to be another branch of that village and help guide expectant and new parents during one of their most precious and life-changing transitions.

Will you be there with us for parents like Courtney?

What it means to be part of the Gidget Collective Community

“As a member of the Gidget Collective, I know that my monthly donation to Gidget Foundation Australia is making a real, sustainable difference. As someone who knows first-hand the impact of mental ill-health during the perinatal period, it is important to me to give back to an organisation that is supporting parents like me in such meaningful and life changing ways.”

“Donating monthly to Gidget Foundation Australia allows my family to give back to an organisation that is close to our hearts. Having been supported through some of our toughest times by Gidget, these regular donations allow us to share our gratitude and pay it forward to other families in need.”

Why is it better to donate monthly than to give a one-off donation?

When you donate regularly over 12 months, you are helping to:

Provide long term, continuous care
On average, someone with perinatal depression and anxiety (PNDA) engage with Gidget Foundation Australia for about seven months of treatment, but those with severe symptoms may need support for much longer. Your regular monthly donations allow us to be there for the long term, ensuring no parent is left to face their journey alone.

Fuel change-making initiatives
Research has shown that early detection and treatment of PNDA can significantly lessen the impact of the illness on the parent and the family unit. Your montly donations empower us to fund and develop innoative programs, such as the Gidget Training Institute, to equip midwives and nurses with the skills to support new parents' mental health.

Ensure every dollar goes further
Monthly donations are automatically deducted from your nominated account every month. This means fewer administrative tasks and costs, so more of your gift goes directly to supporting new parents' mental health. But you are still in complete control of your giving and can modify your donation anytime.
