Gift in your Will

Leaving a bequest in your Will is a lasting and special way of supporting Gidget Foundation Australia.

By planning now to make a charitable bequest in your Will, you can help us change the landscape for expectant and new parents experiencing perinatal depression and anxiety into the future.

What is a bequest?

A bequest is a sum of money or particular items that are given as gifts upon death. After providing for family and friends, generous donors may choose to leave a gift for Gidget Foundation Australia. Making a bequest in your Will offers you the chance to help others long after you are gone.

Types of bequests

There are various forms of bequest you might consider, including:

  • Residuary – a gift that consists of the remainder of your estate (once family and friends have been provided for and any taxes and charges are settled).
  • Percentage – a gift in the form of a specified percentage of your estate.
  • Specific – a gift that is a specified amount of money or other item such as property, art or shares.

You may also donate a combination of the above gifts.

Who should prepare my Will?

While making a will can be difficult and emotional, it is important to make your wishes known.

We recommend that you speak to a qualified solicitor or legal practitioner about your Will to ensure it will be legally recognised and accurately reflect your intentions. It is also advisable to regularly review your will to make sure it reflects any change in circumstances.

Suggested wording for Wills

If you would like to make a bequest to Gidget Foundation Australia use the following wording, depending on the type of bequest:

“I give to Gidget Foundation Australia (ABN 52 160 202 960), for its general purposes, free of all duties (the residue of my estate) or (a % of my estate) or (a specified sum or specified items), for which an authorised receipt from Gidget Foundation Australia will be a sufficient discharge for the Executor(s) or trustee.”

The most important thing is your own peace of mind so please discuss your Will with your legal advisor.

Informing Gidget Foundation Australia

You don’t have to inform us that you have chosen to leave a bequest to Gidget Foundation Australia. However, advising us of your planned generosity helps us to prepare for the future and gives us the opportunity to offer our thanks.

What will your legacy achieve?

The community as a whole are not well informed about perinatal mood disorders which has the potential to affect us all. Your generosity can help us promote a community where parents are nurtured and valued, enabling them to enjoy this special time in life with their young children.

We would be delighted if you would consider leaving a gift to Gidget Foundation Australia in your Will. Help us make parenthood matter.
