Let's run and raise for brave mums !

The 100,000 Australian parents impacted by perinatal depression and anxiety every year. That’s 1 in 5 mums and 1 in 10 dads — and far too many suffer in silence. 

I’m stepping up this March to support any woman who has been affected by postnatal anxiety or depression. However unexpected or sudden it came on, no matter how it manifested itself, no matter how long it took her to get through this, remind that woman in your life how brave she is for asking for help.  

3 months after my second child was born, I realised that I felt very 'off' and I was very scared of so many things, felt like I was not doing things right, even though I knew deep down I was, and I could, from having my first child.

I felt so overwhelmed, and so guilty because what on earth did I need to stress about? I had everything anyone could ever want, was so grateful for my life.

postpartum anxiety turns out to be a real thing and it is scary. I am so glad I knew from having my first child and being fine, that what I was feeling now was not 'standard' baby blues.

I will forever be thankful for my GP who listened, asked questions and referred me to Gidget. They linked me with an amazing, kind therapist who had so much experience in Postpartum anxiety and depression.

I only needed a few sessions to feel myself again, but they made such a difference in how I then was able to enjoy my baby again and enjoy motherhood. 

I cannot begin to imagine how scared and alone mums who have it much worse than I did, feel. Please help me raise awareness and funds to support these mums and help them realise how brave and strong they are. Help them get help and get rid of any guilt or shame when they think about telling someone how they feel.
