Where do your donations go?
It's important to us that your donation is being used effectively to provide the mental health support to new parents.
Early Intervention & Prevention
Our investment in Emotional Wellbeing Screening ensures antenatal mental health check-ups with trained midwives are now routine in seven private hospitals across three states, with plans to expand to 15 by 2027.
Education for Mums and Dads
With 100,000 Australian parents affected by PNDA each year, specialist support is crucial. Our Gidget Village Programs provide online sessions on common issues to help new parents navigate parenthood.
Workforce Development
Building Australia’s perinatal mental health workforce is key to ensuring parents have timely access to support. To date, our Gidget Institute has trained 65 clinicians, with 75 more expected to complete training by 2027.
Perinatal Counselling Support
Thanks to our supporters, we’ve provided over 95,000 mental health appointments to new parents via telehealth or in-person at 34 Gidget Houses. By 2027, we aim to expand to 45 locations and deliver 145,000 appointments.
Virtual Peer Group Support
For the 1 in 5 mums impacted by PNDA, Gidget Virtual Village Groups offer a safe, moderated space to connect and feel supported. Programs are available for expectant and new mothers, as well as new fathers.
Back to Work Support
Returning to work can be overwhelming. Our Emotional Wellbeing sessions offer tailored workplace programs to help workers navigate the back-to-work transition, improving productivity and reducing absenteeism.
How Gidget was there for me
Rebecca McMartin
My story would be very different if it weren’t for the Gidget Foundation.” Rebecca’s journey from pregnancy to birth was filled with sleepless nights of obsessive research, debilitating fears of birth, intrusive thoughts, and overwhelming shame. Through it all, her Gidget House clinician was her steadfast safety net and guide.”

A word of gratitude from new parents

"I will always be grateful for the support provided by Gidget Foundation Australia. I live in Regional NSW and after the birth of my first child I felt I could not get the help I needed without traveling long distances.
However, with my second child I was referred to the Start Talking service, this was a game changer for me. I was able to video conference with a qualified professional who really understood my needs, who also had the back up of an even bigger network of professionals. I had regular video conferences in my own home and then later from Hope cottage.
I was able to get the continuity of care I’d been missing from past experiences. I really think Gidget’s Start Talking service helped me navigate the challenges I felt with motherhood much better the second time around."
Letitia, Start Talking Telehealth client
"My psychologist from Gidget House was my life saviour through this hard time. She was there for myself and for my family and I will always have a special place in my heart for her. The assistance Gidget House offers to families that are struggling is priceless."
Sally, Gidget House client
"Everyone was brilliant – both facilitators and the participants and I feel very grateful to have been a part of this group."
Anonymous, Gidget Village Group Participant
"It’s great having a safe forum that I can ask what may seem like trivial blokey questions with zero judgement."
Andrew, Gidget Virtual Village Member
"It’s a relief to get others’ views (without judgement) and know I’m not alone."
