Support expectant and new parents
who don't know where to turn.

Each year, around 100,000 Australian parents are impacted by perinatal depression and anxiety (PNDA)—that’s 1 in 5 mothers and 1 in 10 fathers.

For many, the stigma of seeking help, coupled with not knowing when or how to seek support means many new parents will face this holiday season feeling lost, overwhelmed, and without support.

This Christmas, your donation can bring hope and relief to a struggling parent.

Your generosity will help fund 24/7 mental health and safety support, perinatal mental health counselling, clinical support resources and 24/7 online connection and peer support.

Together, we can show them they’re not alone, and there is hope.

Alex's Story

The power of your gift to transform lives

When Sydney mother Alex gave birth to Jack during the pandemic, her world felt like it was falling apart. With border closures keeping her mum 17,000 kms away in the UK, she had no one lean on. To make matters worse, little Jack suffered from terrible reflux, waking in pain every night for the first 10 months. Sleep deprived and exhausted from juggling a newborn and a three-year-old while her husband worked long hours at their business. Alex went to a "very dark place."

“I knew I had to get help but I didn't know where to go. By Christmas I had reached my breaking point."

Thankfully, her GP recognised signs of postnatal depression and anxiety (PNDA) and referred Alex promptly to Gidget Foundation Australia. The next six months proved to be a life-changer for Alex.

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, Alex was able to connect with a Gidget Clinician. She helped her process her overwhelming emotions and create strategies to manage life with two little ones. “I was finally able to release all of my locked-away emotions, normalise my feelings and understand why I felt the way I did. It was incredible and a crucial part to my recovery!”
