Get to Know Me

Dear All,

I'm Nilu, founder of Empowering Mothers, postnatal mental health advocate, and a wife and mom of 4-year-old twins. I'm also an entrepreneur, YouTuber, MBA graduate, former banker, and volunteer contributor in Australia.

My aim is to assist new mothers and families in navigating postnatal mental health more effectively than I did. Moreover, I support new parents and reduce the stigma of postpartum experiences through sharing my own experiences and self-care tips which I already followed without any antidepressants.

I volunteer for the Gidget Foundation Australia, a non-profit that supports the emotional well-being of new parents by providing timely and specialist care.

I have started a fundraising campaign for Gidget Foundation Australia with a request for your help to reach my goal of $500. Your contribution today will directly support clinical treatment services, from individual psychological consultations to group treatment programs, early intervention screenings and virtual support networks moderated by people with lived experience of perinatal depression and anxiety.

The reality is stark: 1 in 5 mothers and 1 in 10 fathers will experience perinatal depression and anxiety. It’s a silent struggle we can't afford to ignore.
